A Custom Mantle for a Traditional Home

We repurposed the cavity originally intended for a CRT TV set and built a custom inset cabinet to fit the space perfectly. It makes a perfect spot to hide the clients’ A/V equipment and the solid maple top panel is a sturdy place to mount a TV mount. The solid cherry mantle is ready for years of service including integrated threaded hooks for Christmas stockings with one to spare should their family grow in the future.

Scribed to fit

This unit was built to tight tolerances to fit inside an existing brick opening. Still managed to keep those tight inset reveals.

Solid cherry mantle

We had to call in a few favors to find cherry 14 feet long, but it was worth it for this nice grain match. Floating panel joinery and a 7% moisture content helps keep everything flat and stable. Hand-applied french polish finish over wiping stain

Stocking hooks

We added threaded inserts to the underside for Christmas stockings. No need to drive nails into your fancy new mantle.

Touch-Up Kit

This handmade pine box makes a handy place to store stocking hooks and touch-up finishes.

Solid Cherry Mantle

Box beam mantle constructed from solid 4/4 cherry for a continuous grain wrap in front and excellent durability, able to withstand a lifetime of refinishing as needed.

Integrated Fan w/ Thermostat

Keep electronics hidden and cool at the same time with an integrated fan controlled by a thermostat. This way, it only kicks on when necessary to save power and limit noise. an IR Repeater ensures remotes still operate, even without line-of-sight.
