Bookshelves

We build bookshelves in a variety of materials. Standard bookcases are 90” high, 10” deep, with 1 shelf included per 10” of height, and a toe kick platform below recessed 1” or flush.

  • Economy-Grade Bookshelves

    • Melamine or MDF Panel

    • 5mm adjustable shelf pins

    • 1mm edge-banded front edges

    • 1/4” backing, with 1x4 horizontal stretchers

    • Light duty applications.

  • Mid-Grade Bookshelves

    • Plywood construction, Pre-Finished Birch or Maple, or Paint-Grade Maple

    • Shelves with Poplar, Maple, or Stain-Grade Species (cherry, walnut, clear maple, alder, etc.)

    • Hardwood 1x2 face frame

  • Premium-Grade Bookshelves

    • Plywood construction with stain-grade veneer

    • Shelves with a 1x2 from edge for excellent sag-resistance

    • Cabinet-grade spray finish, Stained, and/or Varnished

    • Mouldings, lighting, custom veneer work, etc.

  • Free-standing / Minimalist Bookshelves

    • 2” thick hollow pilasters with hardwood edging front and back

    • Dowel joinery at all panel connections

    • Your choice of hardwood and veneer

Closets

Our closets range from full casework systems to basic shelf and bulkhead designs.

Standard

  • Simple MDF closets are built with 15” deep vertical “bulkhead” partitions.

  • Horizontal shelves are full depth 15” mounted atop a 3/4” x 3/4” poplar cleat

  • Closet rods are full hang or double hang, 87” & 42” for double hang, 81” for single hang.

  • Shoe shelves have a 1x2 cleat in front and are tipped at a 22-1/2” degree angle.

  • Top shelves are 12” deep and bulkheads are notched back 3” to accommodate.

Semi-Custom

  • Veneered plywood construction

  • Add hardwood edging or a full face frame

  • plywood drawer boxes and ball-bearing drawer slides

  • Oval clothes rods come standard

Heirloom Grade

  • raised panel end panel dividers

  • We offer solid hardwood full frame and panel construction on our premium designs

  • undermount soft-closing drawer slides

  • dovetailed or box jointed drawers in solid hardwood
